Holiday Decorating Contest RULES & INSTRUCTIONS

 The annual Festival of Lights Holiday Home Decorating Contest will be held this season with the following dates:

 Entry Application Period: 11/05/21 through 12/13/21

Judging Period: 12/16/21 and 12/17/21

Winners Announced: 12/21/21

 1.Participation is open to all residents of The Villages at Fort Irwin.

 2.Entry is free, no cost or fees apply.

 4.Entries must be received no later than 3pm on Monday, December 13, 2021.

 5.Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior. Judging will be done from outside the residence only.

 6.Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore only those decorations located on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets). Judges will not enter the property to view back or side yards.

 7.Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated residence exterior posted on The Village's Website and/or published in The Village’s newsletter. Participant agrees there will be no compensation of any kind for said posting or publication. Participants agree to allow their address to be listed on the visitation map for other residents' viewing.

 8.Judging criteria will include [a] Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations; [b] Storyline or theme; [c] Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.; [d] additional use of sound; and [e] Overall presentation.

 9.Judging will be done from 5:30 pm. to 7:30 pm on Thursday, 12/16/21 and Friday, 12/17/21. All judging will be completed no later than 8:00 pm on 12/17/21. Judges will comprise of The Villages Employees, ACS Community Mayors, Garrison Leaders, and Resident Volunteers.

 10.Resident Volunteer Judges must meet at the Leasing Office no later than 5 pm on voting days to pick up a ballot. Voters will then follow The Villages staff to each location on the route, voting for each entry. Ballots are to be returned at the culmination of the evening.

 11.Participants should ensure that all lights, animations, sounds, and decorations are in place and activated for the judging periods on both nights. Participants may also dress in theme or hand out treats to visitors and judges.

 12.Three "Best Overall" prizes will be awarded: 1st Place is awarded 1 “Free Pay & Go” Moveout Cleaning Voucher. 2nd Place is awarded $250 cleaning voucher. 3rd is awarded a $150 cleaning voucher. Five additional runner's up will receive a digital gift card with a value of $50. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, 12/22/21.
