May is your month to submit your front yard for Yard of the Month. The deadline to submit photos is the 15th of your respective month. A list of each village’s contest months is found below.
Yard of the Month Contest Rules
Eligibility:
The Yard of the Month contest is open to all residents of the designated neighborhood for each respective month.
Employees and immediate family members of The Villages or the Army Housing Office are not eligible to participate.
Contest Period:
The contest will be held monthly, with each month featuring a different neighborhood.
The contest begins on the 1st of each month and ends on the 15th of the same month.
Entry Submission:
To enter the Yard of the Month contest, residents must submit their entry through our online entry form only during their applicable Village’s dedicated month.
Entry Requirements:
All entries must feature the exterior of the entrant's home, showcasing the yard and decor elements.
Entries must be original, and the entrant must have taken the photographs themselves.
Entries must be of normal day-to-day appearance. No holiday decorations are allowed.
Entrants must follow Resident Handbook Guidelines found in section 3.
Residents must have an approved Exception to Policy for any decor attached to the exterior of the home.
Judging Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
Overall visual appeal and aesthetic of the yard.
Curb appeal and creative use of available space.
Maintenance and upkeep of the yard.
Unique features and elements that make the yard stand out.
Winner Selection:
The winner will be selected by a panel of judges comprised of Villages and Army Housing Office Staff.
The decision of the judging panel will be final and binding in all matters related to the contest.
Prize:
The winner of the Yard of the Month contest will receive a "Free Pay & Go" Voucher.
The prize is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or any other alternative.
Winner Announcement:
The winner will be notified through the contact details provided in their entry.
The announcement of the winner will be made in the following month’s newsletter, the Villages website, the resident portal, and social media channels.
Publicity:
By participating in the contest, entrants grant The Villages the right to use their names and photographs for promotional purposes related to the Yard of the Month contest.
General Conditions:
The Villages reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates the contest rules, fails to remedy handbook violations, or contains inappropriate content.
Participants may not submit contest entries outside of their prescribed contest months.
By participating in the contest, entrants agree to abide by these official rules and the decisions of the judges.
Residents may be disqualified from participation if having willfully or routinely violated handbook policies resulting in official citations or corrective actions.
By submitting an entry to the Yard of the Month contest, participants indicate their agreement to these official rules. The Villages reserves the right to amend these rules at any time, if necessary, without prior notice.
