Villages and Fort Irwin Department of Emergency Services Host National Night Out Bike Parade

Dubbed the Protector Parade, kids and adults alike donned their pedal-powered vehicles with homemade decorations, cardboard, and lots of paint to represent first responders, superheroes, military, and fantasy themes. The creativity was nothing short of inspiring and joyful. Participants started their route at the Rhineland Park on Normandy before trekking a quick half mile to the Sandy Basin Community Center parking lot. There awaited our local heroes: fire, police, and medical with trucks and equipment on display. Residents were able to get an up close and personalized tour, complete with some sirens. Home-baked treats and promotional swag were available while 10 lucky parade participants won Aafes gift cards for their creativity. In attendance were DES Director Larson, Fire Chief Milizano, DES SGM Killea, MEDDAC SSG Payne, Police Operations Specialist Grabowski, Michaels Management staff, and others.
